Every other week you will be given a topic to think about or an article to read. You are to make a post on your blog. You will also read and respond to the blog posts of at least three classmates every other week.

Choose one of the following statements that best represents your beliefs. Write a post defending the statement and suggesting why the other statement is not correct in your opinion.

  • The best way to develop management skills is to work for a company for several years and observe successful managers doing their work. You can’t learn management from a book.

  • Management in the 21st century is very different from management in the past. The best managers take classes to study management activities and motivation theories rather than relying on experience.

Step 1: By Wednesday, post your original opinion. Make sure that you suggest why the other statement is not correct

Step 2: Review your classmates’ blogs. For at least 3 classmates, post comments/suggestions/ideas regarding their answers.

Step 3: On Friday, check back to the blogs that you posted to. If you received any comments from your posts, share your thoughts or reaction to them.

Leadership

Each week you will be given a topic to think about or an article to read. You are to make a post on your blog. You will also read and respond to the blog posts of at least four classmates each week. Take a moment to think about leadership:

Brainstorm about things supervisors can do to increase the job satisfaction of workers. Identify things that would have a direct cost to the business and those that could be provided with no real cost to the business.

Step 1: By Tuesday, post a description of the five factors that you feel would work for teenage employees.

Step 2: Review your classmates’ blogs. For at least 4 classmates, post comments/suggestions/ideas regarding their answers.

Step 3: On Thursday, check back to the blogs that you posted to. If you received any comments from your posts, share your thoughts or reaction to them.

Social Networking

Each week you will be given a topic to think about or an article to read. You are to make a post on your blog. You will also read and respond to the blog posts of at least four classmates each week. Take a moment to think about social networking:

What is social networking?
What are the advantages? Disadvantages
What are people doing on these sites?
Name some social networking sites that have become popular.

Step 1: By Tuesday, post a description of social networking and persuade your classmates on why you think they are necessary or not in the business world. Make sure that you back up your reasons. In your post, address the questions listed above. Reach out to your colleagues in this learning community for assistance if needed.

Step 2: Review your classmates’ blogs. For at least 4 classmates, post comments/suggestions/ideas regarding their answers.

Step 3: On Thursday, check back to the blogs that you posted to. If you received any comments from your posts, share your thoughts or reaction to them.
